The QBUA will be running umpire assessments of club umpires throughout the 2020/21 season.
We are looking for the clubs to provide us with dates that will suit the club. We will then schedule one of those dates, and notify the club on which day the assessor will attend the club. This could be a Saturday covering junior games, or a Sunday for senior games.
All umpires working games that day will be assessed and will receive a post-game assessment. A written assessments will be sent to each umpire via email.
The assessments can also be for Community umpires requesting to be up graded to an Association level, QBUA must be notified before the day if an upgrade is being requested.
Note; Any upgrades approved, will be for the 2020/21 season only. To retain the upgraded accreditation the umpire will be required to attend an Association Umpire Course.
QUT is hosting a free online summit regarding Australian Sport Officiating.
Keynote speakers include Cheryl Jenkins, Chief Umpire from the Australian Open Tennis Tournament, 2019 World Cup Netball Umpiring Panel Member Jacqui Jashari, and Dr. Clare MacMahon, Senior Lecturer at La Trobe University and co-editor of the text ‘Sports Officials and Officiating: Science and Practice’.
The event has been designed around three key themes: Development & Retention, Technology & Innovation, and Decision-Making Impact. Individual summit segments will be 30min in length structured as a short presentation by each keynote speaker/researcher followed by an opportunity for audience questions.

The QBUA will be holding a Community Umpire Seminar on the Sunshine Coast at the Mudjimba Baseball fields on the 16th Oct.
Check in and Registration at 6.15 and starting at 6.30pm or earlier if time allows. This will be followed up with practical game sessions and assessments on the 17th from 8am.

All attendees must have completed the AIS component prior to the seminar and furnish a copy of the certificate or certificate number with their nomination form.
Queenslander Kai-Noa Wynyard has become the latest young Australian to sign with an MLB organisation after inking a deal with Texas yesterday.
The 18-year-old pitcher is a product of the Redcliffe Padres and has represented both Queensland and Boral Team Australia during his junior years.
Wynyard was part of Australia’s fourth-place finish at last year’s WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in South Korea.
He pitched in two games, working a scoreless inning and striking out two in a 13-2 win against China.
Wynyard also represented Australia in its Yomiuri Cup debut in 2017.
The right-hander has represented Queensland at four Australian Youth Championships.
In January he tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings during Queensland’s run to the U18 final.
He struck out four and allowed only two hits in 2 2/3 innings as Queensland secured its spot in the final with a win over Western Australia in its penultimate game of the opening round.
Rangers’ Australian scout Ben Moore had been tracking Wynyard for more than two years after first identifying him at shortstop.
Wynyard made 14 pitching appearances, including six as a starter, with Redcliffe last Greater Brisbane League season.
He went 3-1 with and ERA of 3.24, striking out 50 in 41 2/3 innings.
Wynyard limited opposition hitters to a .222 batting average.
