Baseball5 Monthly Wrap-ups

Keep up with the growth of Baseball5 through these written monthly wrap-ups by Joe Surrentino, Baseball Queensland’s Baseball5 Coordinator!

MAY 2026 WRAP
May proved to be another banner month for Baseball5, with growth, engagement, and impact continuing to build across Queensland.
A major highlight was delivering a Personal Development session for more than 30 HPE teachers during the ACHPER Sport Development Week. This opportunity to connect directly with educators has already created meaningful ripple effects, with schools from across the state—including as far north as Rockhampton—beginning to trial and embrace Baseball5 within their programs. It’s exciting to see the sport gaining traction in new regions and classrooms.
Our community engagement remained strong, with ongoing Gold Coast Active & Healthy sessions continuing to attract enthusiastic participants. In addition, OSHC programs were successfully delivered across Townsville, the Sunshine Coast, and Brisbane, ensuring Baseball5 remained visible and accessible to young people in a variety of settings.
The momentum carried through into Sporting Schools, where an increasing number of schools opted to introduce Baseball5. The feedback and results have been terrific, reinforcing the sport’s appeal as a fast-paced, inclusive, and easy-to-deliver option for schools.
A particularly special milestone this month was the completion of our second year working with the All Abilities classes from The Tertiary Place. To call this program a success would be an understatement. These sessions continue to demonstrate that Baseball5 truly is a sport for everyone, with inclusivity at its core. The progress, enjoyment, and confidence shown by participants highlight the powerful role the game can play in this space—and the strong momentum we’re building moving forward.
With May wrapped up, the focus now shifts to June, which is shaping up to be even bigger as we continue expanding into new areas and opportunities.
Baseball5 is growing—fast, fun, and for everyone!
APRIL 2026 WRAP
April has been a huge month for Baseball5, with the sport well and truly in full swing across Queensland.
Our Outside School Hours Care programs continued to grow, with successful sessions delivered in Townsville, the Sunshine Coast, and Brisbane, introducing more students to the fast‑paced, inclusive nature of Baseball5.
One of the highlights of the month was Wavell Heights State School, where students experienced the full Baseball5 Fun and Active Holiday Program. With over 40 students participating, the day was packed with skills, games, and challenges designed to set them on the path toward becoming future Baseball5 champions. To ensure the fun didn’t stop when the session ended, the Wavell Heights OSHC received a brand‑new official Baseball5 Kit, allowing them to continue playing and enjoying the sport long after we packed up.
On the Gold Coast, we saw the continuation of the Active & Healthy program, with not one but two Baseball5 sessions delivered during the school holidays, keeping students active and engaged.
April also marked an exciting milestone with the first‑ever Interschool Junior Baseball5 Competition, hosted at Parklands Christian College. Schools from Parklands, Bethania, and King’s took part in fast‑paced action for students in Years 4–6. With close to 100 future Baseball5 stars involved, the competition has been thriving and will head into its final week in Week 2 of Term 2.
On the events front, Baseball5 featured in a come‑and‑try activation at the Kingston Butter Factory as part of the 2026 ImagiNation Kids Festival. To say it was a success would be an understatement. Across the day, we engaged with over 1,300 people, with more than half actively participating in the activation. This marked the largest Baseball5 activation in our history, and we couldn’t have been happier with the enthusiasm shown by both kids and parents—whether they jumped in to play or stopped by to learn more about the sport and where their children can get involved.
Rounding out the month, we were thrilled to launch another year of our All-Abilities program, with The Tertiary Place in Mt Gravatt returning for another season of exciting Baseball5 and T‑Ball skills and games. Just like last year, participants gave it everything they had—and did so with smiles all around. This program continues to highlight just how inclusive Baseball5 truly is and the positive impact it has both on and off the field.
With another big month ahead in May, the momentum keeps building.
Until then, just remember — all you need is a ball.
February 2026 Wrap
Baseball5 February Recap – 2026 Is Off to an Exciting Start!
2026 is off to an exciting and incredibly busy start for Baseball5. February saw major growth, new programs launched, and plenty of action across Queensland as we continued to bring fast, fun, and accessible sport to schools and communities.
Launch of Our Brand-New OSHC Fun & Active Program
This month marked the official launch of our brand-new OSHC Fun and Active program. We’ve already begun delivering sessions, and the response from services and students has been fantastic. The program is designed to bring high-energy, inclusive activity to OSHC environments—and February proved just how impactful it can be.
Sunshine Coast Blitz – A Huge Success
One of the biggest highlights of the month was our Sunshine Coast Blitz. Across the week, we visited schools and OSHCs daily, introducing Baseball5 to the region and delivering sessions to groups who embraced the game with enthusiasm.
We also had the privilege of upskilling brand-new staff on the Sunshine Coast, ensuring they feel confident and ready to deliver high-quality Baseball5 experiences. It was a great introduction to the area and showcased the huge potential Baseball5 has to grow and thrive across the region.
Gold Coast Active & Healthy – Continuing Strong Partnerships
Our partnership with Gold Coast Social Sport and the Gold Coast Active & Healthy program continued throughout February, with weekly Baseball5 sessions at Robina Greenheart Parklands. We’re thrilled to see strong attendance and continuing engagement from families and participants of all ages.

  • North Queensland Blitz – 2 Weeks of Delivery & Development
  • Ongoing Gold Coast Active & Healthy sessions
  • Sporting Schools programs ramping up
  • OSHC programs continuing to take off across Queensland
We’re excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to keep sharing Baseball5 with more communities.
October 2025 Wrap
Baseball5 October Wrap-Up: Another Banner Month for the Fastest Growing Diamond Sport
October proved to be another milestone month for Baseball5 (B5) in Queensland, with participation and enthusiasm reaching new heights across the state.
In South East Queensland, the sport continued its strong presence in schools, with Victoria Point State High School, Hilliard’s State School, and Cleveland State School all embracing B5. The momentum is clearly building, with Ormiston College set to launch teacher-led B5 sessions for all Year 9 students in Term 4—a powerful sign that schools are recognizing the accessibility, affordability, and educational value of the sport.
Meanwhile, in North Queensland, our dedicated team has been hard at work preparing for the first-ever B5 social competition in the state.
Townsville hosted its first B5 Come & Try Day, featuring special guests Australian B5 Coach Adrian M and National Player Jonah, who shared their expertise and inspired participants with insights into the national and international pathways available through the sport.
On the Gold Coast, our monthly B5 sessions continue to thrive. These are listed on the Gold Coast Social Sports Calendar, and we encourage everyone to keep an eye on our social media channels for updates and reminders leading up to each session.

September 2025 Wrap
September marked a groundbreaking month for Baseball5 in Queensland, with exciting progress in both school and social spaces.

Social Activation – Gold Coast

During the school holidays, Baseball5 launched its monthly Active & Healthy park pick-up-and-play sessions on the Gold Coast. These sessions were held at Broadwater Park in Southport and Pizzy Park in Miami, and have quickly gained momentum, with attendance growing each time.
A huge thank you to Gold Coast staff members Stephen and Amelia, whose energy and commitment helped make these sessions a fantastic experience for all who attended.

One standout was Wellington Point State High School, where the session received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, teachers, and even parents. The enthusiasm and engagement were a testament to the sport’s growing appeal.
Thank you to all the staff and students who participated and helped create such a positive experience. With many more Sporting Schools sessions booked for Term 4, Baseball5 is set to reach even more young athletes across the state.
