GCBA Season Concludes

GCBA Season Concludes

Consistent with Baseball Queensland’s (BQ) decision to postpone all Queensland Baseball activity from Wednesday, 18 March 2020 until Wednesday, 8 April 2020, the GCBA Committee has advised Baseball Queensland that the GCBA summer baseball competition should now conclude prior to the finals series commencing.

Considering the advice received to date, the precautions taken by Baseball Queensland and time required for athletes to prepare after the resumption of regular activities the GCBA Committee has assessed that few opportunities exist to reschedule games.

Therefore pursuant to the following By-Laws 3.55, 3.56, 3.58 (f) and (g) the GCBA Committee congratulates the following teams for winning their respective Division Premiership by virtue of finishing on top of their Division ladder. View the graphic below for the Division Premiers.

Winners of the various GCBA awards will be announced in due course.

The GCBA Committee would like to thank and congratulate all GCBA Clubs on a very successful summer season where our sport has continued to grow. The GCBA Committee would also like to thank the hard-working Club Committees, Presidents and Secretaries. We also appreciate the BQ Board and the BQ staff for their support and assistance.

The GCBA Committee would also like to acknowledge Glen Long, our Competition Administrator for all his hard work and commitment to our sport.

Baseball Queensland would like to thank the GCBA Committee members who continue to demonstrate their passion and commitment to making our sport better every season.

Baseball Queensland is more grateful than ever for the dedicated commitment of our community. We acknowledge your sacrifices and share your passions for our great game.

Like you, we look forward to getting back to playing, administering, coaching, umpiring, scoring, groundskeeping for, and watching the game we all love.

Qsport Free Webinars

Qsport Free Webinars

Because of the COVID-19 emergency, QSport is supporting a planned series of free webinars being facilitated by Active Queenslanders Industry Alliance to provide urgent financial and revenue advice to clubs and organisations.

Everyone is welcome to participate, and we encourage more than one club committee member to join the webinar.
Once a committee member or staff member registers they will receive financial templates – these will be fully explained during the session.

The spreadsheet templates will automatically produce financial figures for clubs’ projected revenue and income during this period of closure. Additionally, there will be some discussion on how to raise funds during this period.

The webinars will be straightforward and practical and are designed to help clubs save themselves from financial disaster.

State Titles Postponed Indefinitely

State Titles Postponed Indefinitely

Following Baseball Australia’s announcement to postponed the National Little League tournaments, Baseball Queensland would like to share that we have taken the necessary steps to post pone the Little League, Junior League and Senior League State Titles indefinitely.

While Little League International has suspended all play for the foreseeable future there has not yet been a decision made on whether the various Little League World Series events will go ahead this year.

We accept it is becoming increasingly unlikely we will be able to participate in these events in the current climate. Baseball Queensland will continue to work with Baseball Australia and Little League International to ensure that if the situation does improve to the point where we can safely host events and provide teams with an opportunity to play in these pathway events in time to qualify, then we will work towards providing those opportunities.
