There are only a few weeks left to register your interest to be part of the Futures League. JL and SL Futures League offers one of the highest-quality competition opportunities in SE Queensland. It’s a great opportunity for players to get in nine games against strong competition, play with new teammates and make new friends from other clubs and regions.

The upcoming term three Futures League JL, SL and Opens programs mark the second year of this exciting new pathway. Register your EOI as a player or coach today to avoid disappointment.

PLAYER and COACH EOI’s for FUTURES LEAGUE OPENS

COACHES :: Baseball Queensland in partnership with the Brisbane Bandits seek expressions of interest for suitably qualified coaches for the 2022 opens Futures League.

This years Futures League will run from Friday 29th July playing two games per week on Tuesday and Friday nights concluding in early September.

Coaches will need to hold current coaching accreditation at level 3 or USA B and a current blue card. Expressions of interest with a brief overview of coaching experience can be submitted to [email protected] for consideration by the Futures League committee along with the BQ and Bandits high performance teams.

Expressions of interest will close at 17:00 on Friday July 15th.

PLAYERS :: Baseball Queensland in partnership with the Brisbane Bandits asks all players interested in competing in the 2022 opens Futures League to register for the draft.

2022 brings a change to the format with opens Futures League games being played twice per week and the league being finished prior to the start of the GBL season. Games will be played on Tuesday and Friday nights commencing Friday 29th July and concluding early September.

Along with the change of timing and game scheduling the age bracket has been widened to allow each team to have three players over the age of 25 to assist with keeping the competition at a high level and providing more mentoring opportunities to younger players.

Expressions of interest will close at 17:00 on FRIDAY July 15th.

 

  • Please note: As these competitions finish after the current BA/BQ Membership expires on 31 August, 2022, players must be registered for 2022-2023 and paid with BA/BQ by September 1, 2022 to be eligible to play in the last rounds in September including the championship and third-place games. This is for insurance reasons

PLAYER and COACH EOI’s for FUTURES Junior/Senior LEAGUES

Baseball Queensland is excited to present the 2022 JL and SL Futures League competitions.

Available to all Queensland players in the JL and SL age group, the 44-player, four-team competition runs for six weeks ( 9 Games Total )  . 1 game a week for 3 weeks then 2 games a week for 3 weeks and finishing Saturday, 10 September. Wednesday games start at 7pm and will rotate across four venues spread out across the Brisbane and Northern Gold Coast areas. Saturday games will start at 9am for JL and SL and will also rotate venues.

Futures League: Junior League Division 

JL Age Group According to BQ Age Matrix

Born between Sept 1, 2008 and August 31, 2010

 

Futures League: Senior League Division 

SL Age Group According to BQ Age Matrix

Born between Sept 1, 2006 and August 31, 2008

 

Structure:

4 teams of 11 players in each comp, two coaches per team.

Venues:

EOIs being received now, but plan is to have games rotate across Brisbane and Northern Gold Coast.

 

Process:

Observation and Draft: 30/31 July (TBD)

Players notified of selection: August 1-2

First game: Saturday, August 6 :

Six Saturday games (including the Futures League Carnival on September 10th) and three Wednesday night games (in the last three weeks there are two games a week.)

 

Uniforms:

This year, FL jerseys and hats for the JL and SL competitions will be supplied with costs built into player fees and partially offset by sponsorships.

 

Cost:
(TBD) Likely between $150 and $200 for jersey, hat and 9 games.

 

Other:

  • Players may PONAG up to JL from the LL age group or JL to SL Futures with permission of Baseball Queensland and competition coordinators. However, natural-age players will have first priority.

 

  • Pitchers limited to 40 pitches, six outs or 2 innings.

 

  • Single-inning batter limit of 7 batters (same as last year).

2022 Futures League is Back !

Baseball Queensland, in cooperation with the Brisbane Bandits, is excited to announce the 2022 Futures League programs. Building off the success of last year’s JL, SL and Opens competitions, this year’s Futures League will be held in school term three and will have two games a week for six weeks. The twelve-game competitions will feature four teams selected through a draft format to be held in late July and early August. Look for more about the competitions, dates, eligibility and EOI schedule in the coming weeks.

The Baseball QLD Futures league was opened on Wednesday evening by Mr Chris Norrie, BQ Commissioner and Mr Nev Brockie, BQ Hall of Fame & Life Member. Chris welcomed and thanked all person involved, and the sponsors with bringing the Futures League to life. Mr Nev Brockie threw the ceremonial first pitch at each game.
