Get ready to dive into the action! The Southern Queensland Winter Baseball League (SQWBL) is gearing up for an exhilarating season, set to kick off on 25th May. Don’t miss your chance to join in on the excitement – register now!

If you’ve ever contemplated giving baseball a shot, SQWBL is your ideal starting point.  With its social and inclusive vibe, SQWBL serves as the perfect gateway into the sport.

Even if you’ve never picked up a baseball or a bat, or have been playing for years, SQWBL fosters a nurturing environment for players of all ages and skill levels to thrive.  And if you dislike playing in the heat, winter baseball is for you!

Last season saw 30 teams, including 6 women’s teams, hitting the field, showcasing SQWBL’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

 

Unlike traditional club baseball, SQWBL prioritises a social and fun environment over intense competition.  Games unfold across various club grounds, blending on-field action with off-field companionship throughout the 12-week season (including finals).  With accredited umpires ensuring a level playing field, Women’s teams take to the field on Saturdays, while Divisions 1-4  battles it out on Sundays.  From wood bat-only play to personalised uniforms, and flexible team arrangements, SQWBL offers a unique twist on summer baseball.

Women’s or Masters only Members:  If you registered with a baseball club in Women’s or Masters ONLY membership, you will need to register as a NEW MEMBER as your BQ/BA membership expired at the end of the competition.

New members including Expired 23/24 BQ Women’s/Masters Season Only member: $176.63 (including BQ/BA fees)

The Queensland Masters State Titles, hosted by Surfers Paradise Baseball Club and Robina Braves Baseball Club, are set to begin this Thursday, offering four days of baseball excitement. Players aged 35 years and above, along with female players aged 25 years and older, can join one of three divisions: Division 1, Division 2, and Women’s. This structure ensures that players of different ages and genders can find a suitable competitive environment. Female players are encouraged to participate in any division, promoting inclusivity and diversity in the tournament.

Starting at 12pm on ANZAC Day, the event welcomes teams of all backgrounds without any minimum participation requirements. It’s a chance for players to come together, showcase their skills, and enjoy the game. Get ready for an exciting baseball experience at the Queensland Masters State Titles!

Prepare for the action-packed 12-14 Years Queensland Schools Baseball Championship happening from April 18 to 21 at Surfers Paradise Baseball Club in Sir Bruce Small Park, Allchurch St. Benowa. This event promises four days of competitive baseball among Queensland’s school-aged players.

Players and fans are eagerly awaiting this annual event, which showcases the talent of Queensland’s young baseball players. With teams from across the state, the championship highlights the growing popularity of baseball in Queensland.

Surfers Paradise Baseball Club offers top-notch facilities in a picturesque location, providing the perfect setting for the tournament. Spectators can expect exciting matches throughout the championship, featuring players aged 12 to 14.  Beyond the game itself, the championship promotes community and camaraderie among players, coaches, and supporters. It’s about more than just winning; it’s about forming friendships and learning valuable lessons both on and off the field.

For Surfers Paradise, the championship is a chance to showcase its hospitality and vibrant sporting culture. Visitors can explore local attractions and enjoy the Gold Coast beaches.  As the countdown to the championship begins, excitement is building among everyone involved. Thanks to the teachers and volunteers who make the event possible, and to Kath Wenban and the Queensland Schools Baseball Committee for their efforts in growing the event.

Australian Women’s and Youth Women’s Championships Wrap-Up: Celebrating Achievements and Spirit

The 2024 Australian Women’s and Youth Women’s Championships concluded with moments of unity, outstanding performances, and inspiring displays of sportsmanship.

NO MORE Spirit of the Game Award: At the heart of the championships was a powerful stand against domestic and family violence. Players, presented by NO MORE, showcased solidarity by linking arms before each game, donning orange playing socks, and sharing messages of support. Congratulations to Mackenzie Rogers (Queensland White), Kate Deegan (Queensland Maroon), and Lila Hall (Queensland Youth) for receiving the NO MORE Spirit of the Game Award, exemplifying fair play, teamwork, and respect both on and off the field.

Youth Bring Home SILVER

Queensland teams left their mark on the tournament. Despite the reigning champs from 2023 Youth Women settling for silver this time, their resilience and skill shone through. Queensland’s U16 National Women’s Championship team impressed with their never-say-die attitude, showcasing passion, fight, and determination. Holly Moellers (QLD) stood out, earning the Tournament Golden Arm Award for her exceptional performance behind the plate.

BRONZE Victory

Queensland Maroon secured a well-deserved bronze, marking their return to the podium after a gap since 2016. With a roster featuring talented players, including graduates from last year’s gold-winning team, their stellar hitting and pitching performances propelled them to success.

Queensland White Superstars

Queensland White captured hearts with their tenacity, teamwork, and infectious smiles. Their unwavering passion and determination showcased the bright future of women’s baseball in Queensland.
