QLD COMMUNITY CLUB LIQUOR LICENCE

QLD COMMUNITY CLUB LIQUOR LICENCE

A number of baseball clubs around Queensland hold a liquor license to help them meet the demands of their membership and provide opportunities for members to socialise in their club environment. It is imperative that all clubs observe liquor licensing laws to avoid exposing your club to potential risk of harm to your members and considerable financial penalties to your club, canteen staff and patrons. Should individuals or clubs be found to be in breach of current state laws, the penalties for irresponsible service of alcohol are considerable. You can be fined a maximum of $80,650 for a first offence, with increased fines of up to $161,300 or 18 months imprisonment for subsequent offences. Community club licenses are available in Queensland at a reasonable fee and you can access further information here: Community club licence – QLD – Australian Business Licence and Information Service.

While it is appropriate for clubs to serve alcohol at their licensed venues when adult baseball is scheduled, Baseball Queensland’s policy prohibits the sale or consumption of alcohol at any venue in a timeframe where junior baseball games or activities are delivered.

The 2024 Barrier Reef Baseball Tournament, held from July 19 to July 21 at Trinity Beach, Cairns was a great success. For over 30 years, this tournament has been a highlight of the North Queensland baseball calendar, showcasing both seasoned talent and rising stars.

This year’s tournament featured an electrifying competition, particularly between the Cairns Cyclones and the Townsville Stealers. The Cyclones, enhanced by new Japanese and American players, demonstrated their depth of experience, while the Stealers, with their strong female players and Queensland Representative experience, delivered fierce competition.
