On Saturday the 16th of November, Brisbane Metro Region will be hosting their first pilot Rookie Ball and T-Ball Single Site program, aimed at creating new entry level participation opportunities for Junior Baseball. All Metro games for T-ball and Rookie ball will be played at the same location, Bannister Park on Saturday the 16th of November. This will bring together over 160 players from across the region.
Brisbane Metro’s initiative to grow our entry level programs with the full support of Baseball Queensland, is the type of pilot program that has potential to support new growth across Queensland.
Supporting this great initiative, will be players from the four-time Claxton Shield winning Brisbane Bandits; helping with some tips on hitting and fundamentals to our juniors on the day. The Bandits acknowledge the importance of engaging with the youth within the sport.
”Having the Bandits engage with these 8-10 year olds is a great experience for the kids. Seeing the local stars come out and spend time with them, builds their passion for the game.” Says Morley Foster, Brisbane Metro President, “We want to thank Baseball Queensland and the Bandits for all their hard work and support of youth baseball across the region”
Games will be running at Bannister Park, Hendra from 8am on Saturday morning. The Brisbane Bandits players will provide support and encouragement, as well as opportunities for our young players to receive Bandits’ memorabilia.
Baseball Queensland CEO, Paul Gonzalez, would like to thank Brisbane Metro Region for their dedication to the sport and passion to work within the vision of Baseball Queensland in “Building a better future for Baseball.”
