Earnshaw State College has launched a Baseball Academy and have already received expressions of interest from many students across North Brisbane. While round one applications have now closed, their second round of applications opens on September 1 and closes on September 30. Students from year 4 through to year 12 may now apply.
They are very excited to announce their baseball coach, Lee Brand who will begin in the position of Academy coach at the end of 2019, in readiness for the 2020 year and beyond.
Lee Brand was born and raised in Minnesota, USA. He is currently a physical education teacher at Carmel College, Thornlands. He is a committee member for the Redlands Rays Baseball Club, coaching the Senior League team, running the T-Ball Program and playing for the Master’s team. He has been involved in school sport as the head coach for the Met East region U18 team and an assistant coach for the Queensland state team. Prior to moving to Brisbane, Brand coached at Clark College and Hazel Dell Little League in Washington, USA, Riverland Community College in Minnesota, and Salt Lake Community College as well as two different high schools in Utah, USA. He also coached for several semi-professional teams in Canada. Brand played semi-professionally in Canada. He has completed a Master’s of Science degree at the University of Utah in the program of Sport Psychology and he received his Bachelors of Education from Gonzaga University (Washington state, USA) while assisting the baseball teams at GU and at Rogers High School. He is married with two children and is excited with the opportunity to start and direct a Baseball Academy at Earnshaw State College.
