Buddy League Online Info Session

To support clubs and help with the rollout of Buddy League, we’ll be hosting an online workshop for all SEQ clubs:

We’re excited to announce that Buddy League is expanding to South East Queensland for the 2025 season! Off the back of strong pilot results in Cairns and Townsville, we’re thrilled to offer this innovative program to more clubs and families across our state.

What is Buddy League?  Buddy League is Baseball Queensland’s new club-led program for children aged 3 to 6, with a unique feature — it opens up structured baseball participation to 3- and 4-year-olds, an age group often missed by other sports.

The Buddy model pairs each player with a parent, sibling, or volunteer ‘Buddy’ on the field. The feedback so far has been outstanding, with many saying the Buddies have just as much fun as the kids!

Next steps for SEQ Clubs This is an opportunity, not an obligation — your club can choose to adopt Buddy League for the 3–6 age group. We encourage you to consider how Buddy League could benefit your youngest age group and open up new teams and participation streams.

How can you get involved? 

• Online Info Session: Join us for an online Teams meeting specifically for SEQ clubs to learn more about Buddy League and ask questions.
• Practical Club Workshops: We’re planning practical workshops at clubs to help get coaches and committees up to speed on how Buddy League works. These will run in the lead-up to the season, and  we’ll work closely with your coaches and committee — visiting you in person to deliver a hands-on Buddy League session so you have everything you need to get started.
