Following Baseball Australia’s announcement to postponed the National Little League tournaments, Baseball Queensland would like to share that we have taken the necessary steps to post pone the Little League, Junior League and Senior League State Titles indefinitely.

While Little League International has suspended all play for the foreseeable future there has not yet been a decision made on whether the various Little League World Series events will go ahead this year.

We accept it is becoming increasingly unlikely we will be able to participate in these events in the current climate. Baseball Queensland will continue to work with Baseball Australia and Little League International to ensure that if the situation does improve to the point where we can safely host events and provide teams with an opportunity to play in these pathway events in time to qualify, then we will work towards providing those opportunities.

We will only provide these opportunities if it is safe to do so and complies with Queensland State Government advice.

We have received advice that Little League International is considering relaxations around how teams qualify for the World Series and how we might identify a National Champion team if we are permitted to play in time to send teams to the various World Series events. The details are still being discussed but it provides a possible opportunity to participate if the COVID-19 situation improves in the near future.

BQ acknowledges that for an individual and their team to be successful there needs to be specific preparation prior to an event and this takes time. With the current social distancing recommendations coupled with the uncertainty of how long these recommendations will be in place, we want to respect our athletes and teams.  Baseball Queensland does not see a State Titles event taking place in the foreseeable future.

Baseball Queensland aims to share information regarding future tournaments by the end of the week.

We hope you continue to look after yourselves, your families, your friends, and the people doing it tough in your communities.
