Get involved

Baseball is more than just a game. It’s a community built on teamwork, passion and people who give their time to make it happen.

volunteer in baseball

From coaching and umpiring to scoring, helping at the canteen or preparing the diamond, volunteers are the backbone of baseball in Queensland.

Whether you’re a former player, a parent, a baseball enthusiast or someone looking to try something new, there are plenty of ways to get involved. You don’t need years of baseball experience or an in-depth knowledge of the game to make a difference. You just need a willingness to get involved!

Every contribution, big or small, helps create a fun, inclusive and welcoming environment where players of all ages and abilities can enjoy baseball.

How can you get involved in baseball?

  • Become a Coach

Help players learn, develop and fall in love with baseball. Coaches play an important role in teaching skills, building confidence, encouraging teamwork and creating a positive team environment.

  • Umpire putting on mask

    Become an umpire

Umpires play a vital role in keeping baseball fair, safe and organised. From calling balls and strikes to making decisions on the field, umpires help ensure everyone can enjoy the game.

  • Become a Scorer

Every hit, run, strikeout and out tells part of the game’s story. Scorers keep the official record of each game, tracking statistics and ensuring results are accurately recorded.

  • Canteen

    Volunteer at your club

Not every volunteer needs to be on the diamond! Local clubs rely on people behind the scenes to keep everything running. There’s always something to do, and every helping hand makes a difference.

And who knows…

Volunteering is about more than helping a team or club. It’s an opportunity to be part of something bigger.

By volunteering you can:

  • Make a difference: Help more people access and enjoy baseball.

  • Build connections: Meet new people and become part of your local sporting community.

  • Learn new skills: Develop leadership, communication, organisation and teamwork skills.

  • Stay involved: Keep connected to the game, whether you’re a former player or a new baseball fan.

  • Inspire the next generation: help create positive sporting experiences that can last a lifetime.

…you might just discover a new passion along the way!

You don’t have to do it alone

Getting started is easier than you think. Most clubs are happy to welcome new volunteers and can help you find a role that suits your interests, experience and availability.

Whether you can spare a few hours each week, help out on gamed or take on a more regular role, your contribution is valued.

Some roles may require training, accreditation or relevant checks, particularly when working with junior players. Your club can help guid you through what’s needed.
